About Maddie Regan
Maddie and her husband Brian Lloyd chose Norwood to be their neighborhood nearly four years ago when they purchased their first home. They were enamored with the historic nature of their home and others nearby, the quiet end of their one-way street, and the small-city ability to connect to their neighbors. Since rooting on Cleveland Avenue, they have grown to love the many facets of Norwood, most of which center around the sense of community held by its residents.
Maddie serves as a project manager for a non-profit in Cincinnati. Daily, Maddie balances objectives against fiscal, schedule, and personnel resources. As a leader in an education and arts-focused non-profit, Maddie values the impact of community outreach, and she has seen firsthand what can be accomplished through the power of neighborhoods. This experience puts community development at the center of Maddie’s campaign.
Maddie believes the primary objective of the upcoming City Council will be fiscal management and recovery. It will be the responsibility of the next three councils to implement and support the 5-year Financial Recovery Plan as approved by the State of Ohio. Maddie looks forward to being an active participant in this process.
Realistically, tight resourcing will leave limited internal funding for quality-of-life investments. This increases the need for grant writing so projects may be funded by resources beyond those of the City of Norwood. Another benefit of her non-profit background is that Maddie has a history of managing projects with restricted resourcing, and believes her resourcefulness will be a valuable asset.
As a first-generation resident, Maddie believes she can bring fresh perspective to City Council and contribute first-hand to efforts designed to generate new residents. Maddie's primary goal is to strengthen the power of the Norwood Neighborhood, which includes:
- Activating our public spaces through family-friendly programming
- Participating in community-led clean-up efforts
- Investing in community garden installations
- Collaborating with other leaders on the vacant property issue
At the core of the plan is Maddie's belief in the power of people helping people. Even in times of fiscal scarcity, truly great things can be accomplished by a community that works together. The City of Norwood shines the face of adversity as seen by the clean-up and charitable efforts made in the wake of the 2016 flooding. If we harness our capacity for collective good, we can accomplish great things.
Maddie also prioritizes the need to increase the amount of trust between citizens and local government through transparent, clear communication. She believes part of the solution is creating a modern, user-friendly City website which can function as a communication tool and resource for all Norwood residents and businesses.
